Moneyball

Besides the fact that the always good-looking Brad Pitt is in the movie Moneyball, I recommend seeing the movie. Last night as I was laying on my couch with no other sports to watch since hockey is on hold till Wednesday I decided to watch the popular movie.

Although their is some math involved in the movie, it is not as dreadful as it would seem. I actually enjoyed the film very much and strongly recommend it for baseball fans.

I'll Have Another again

They've done it again and are planning to go for three. The famous horse, I'll Have Another, and his rider Doug O'Neill won the Preakness Steak this past Saturday. It looked as though they may not win but pulled it out in the last few yards.

Mets or Yankees?

Who is the better New York baseball team? Right now it seems to be the Mets but that could always change. The Yankees, who just lost their third in a row, have started out their 2012 season a bit slow. The Mets have a record of 21-17 and the Yankees 20-18. It may not seem like that much of a difference but the Mets seem to be prevailing all around.

Beckham and the 2012 Olympics

It's no secret that David Beckham has been known to bring large crowds to a stadium but Beckham doesn't want to be known as a player who solely gets the crowd there because of his celeb-status. The English soccer player has been known to play on some big name teams and wants to be noticed for the 2012 London Olympics because of his skills.

Is Matt Kemp's season over?

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Matt Kemp were all but smiles after their sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Kemp hurt his left hamstring and now the question is whether or not he will be out for an extended period of time?

Kemp leads the team in homeruns and has the longest running consecutive game streak in the MLB right now. Kemp hopes that he will not have to go on the disabled list and can get back into the game as soon as possible.

Tebow can throw

The New York Jets like what they see. Tim Tebow was recently acquired by the team and they are happy with his performance so far. Although Tebow is the backup for Mark Sanchez he may be making special team appearances during some games.

The coaches are all thrilled with how Tebow is performing. His attitude is great on and off the field. They say he has the mechanics to be a great quarterback. The Jets are very happy with what they see so far.

The wait is over

If you haven't won a title in 44 years you might as well do it in a crazy way and this is exactly what Manchester City did. Man City seemed to do the impossible and score not one, but TWO goals in the extra time allotted after 90 minutes of play. It was a tight scoring game and Man City was able to pull out and take the Premier League Champions.

Who will take it?

Looks like the Rangers and the Capitals are going to decide who will be going to the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games. The back and forth series is tied up again and Saturday night will decide who the New Jersey Devils will be competeing against.

The Capitals lead game 6 the entire time. Alex Ovechkin scored early giving the Capitals the lead. The Rangers were never able to bounce back and capitalize on any scoring chances until there was 50 seconds left in the game. By that time it was too late and the Capitals evened up the series with a 2-1 win.

Heated

The Miami Heat has eliminated the New York Knicks from the NBA playoffs. It was a quick five game series. The first three games it looked as if the Heat were going to sweep the Knicks but then game four the Knicks came out with fire and were able to defeat them. Unfortuneatly they were unable to continue their little winning streak and were sent back to New York.

Giroux one game suspension

The game of hockey can be a pretty physical sport but what exactly are the boundaries? With the Stanley Cup Finals going on right now many players seem to be getting suspensions left and right. It is the job of Brendan Shanahan to determine whether certain hits are taken too far and risking the safety of other players.

On Sunday night in Newark, New Jersey Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers hit the head of Danius Zubrus. He dropped his shoulder and went in for the hit as Zubrus was fore-checking. Zubrus suffered no injurys but Giroux was still punished for his action, a one game suspension.

Many cases like these are being brought up in the NHL and many players are getting suspensions. Is Shanahan being too strict or are his actions justified?
