Giroux one game suspension

The game of hockey can be a pretty physical sport but what exactly are the boundaries? With the Stanley Cup Finals going on right now many players seem to be getting suspensions left and right. It is the job of Brendan Shanahan to determine whether certain hits are taken too far and risking the safety of other players.

On Sunday night in Newark, New Jersey Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers hit the head of Danius Zubrus. He dropped his shoulder and went in for the hit as Zubrus was fore-checking. Zubrus suffered no injurys but Giroux was still punished for his action, a one game suspension.

Many cases like these are being brought up in the NHL and many players are getting suspensions. Is Shanahan being too strict or are his actions justified?

Happy Days! xoxo
